Thursday, Oct. 28 - 10 AM

On Tuesday I had to take Kayla to the dentist. I picked her up at school. When I got to the school her class was outside and the aides were blowing bubbles for the kids. They took Kayla inside and she went to the bathroom. She is doing very well with the toileting schedule at school. Kayla got back in her wheelchair with help, fastened her seat belt and rolled across the classroom and out the door.
At the dentist's office she was not very cooperative. She does not like anything in her mouth. She has a cavity and they will have to put her to sleep to do the work and they will also do a deep cleaning at the same time. Kayla also has some permanent teeth coming in and they need to pull the baby teeth.
When I put her back in the car, she fastened her seatbelt. When I got in the car she was talking and pointing at me. It took me a few moments to figure out that she was telling me to fasten my seat belt.
Her teacher showed me some of her papers at school. Kayla is working on counting and numbers and her letters and also some writing tasks to music to improve her writing skills. For being right handed and now having to learn to write left handed she is doing very well.
Also on Tuesday, at St. Joseph's out patient therapy, Kayla went in the therapy pool. I did not think they were going to do that until next week. I will be going with her to change her before and after her therapy session. I think she liked it but I am looking forward to seeing her in the pool.
We are making arrangements for Kayla to go to Syracuse to see the neurosurgeon for a checkup since it is one year since the bone flap replacement surgery. She had a CT scan yesterday and we will take the disc with up. We needed to have the scan done in PA for medical assistance to pay for it. I am hoping that the visit to the neurosurgeon will be covered but am willing to pay for it myself.
Last Monday Kayla went on a field trip from school to Wilkes Barre to the "Trail of Treats". At the Ramada Inn they set up the ballrooms with decorations and treats for the children to go trick & treat. Kayla's teacher has some pictures. I am hoping she will send them to me. When I get them I will post them.
