So today we had the big discharge planning meeting. As far as we know Kayla will be going home on Tuesday, September 15. There will be nurses at her home every night from 11 pm to 7 am so that Peter and April can sleep. April will take care of Kayla during the day and I will help whenever she wants me to.
They are still working on the therapists. Her hospital bed and other equipment will be delivered on Monday. Kayla's wheelchair was delivered to rehab today but needed a few changes.
Kayla will be coming home in our local ambulance for which we are very grateful as I am sure she will be more comfortable that way.
The Mountain View School district Director of Special Services was at the discharge planning meeting and the school will be doing an evaluation and setting up things for Kayla to be home schooled at this time.
We are looking forward to Kayla being home surrounded by her family and hoping that being in a familiar place will speed her recovery.
