I am sorry to have not posted anything for a week. Since Kayla's surgery two weeks ago we have noticed that she seems more alert. Also she has not had the tremors in her arm and leg as much.
Today Peter and I went to visit the Jefferson Center in Scranton. April stayed home to take care of Kayla and Madison. This is a school for children with multiple handicaps. She will be in a classroom with 5 or 6 other children around her age. Kayla will get physical, occupational and speech therapy at school. Kayla will start out with half days to see how much she can handle. Hopefully after a few weeks they will then add out patient therapy sessions at St. Joseph's center. There she would get physical therapy sometimes in the therapy pool and also speech therapy. They have many devices to help her communicate. Hopefully they can find a way for her to express herself.
This afternoon I took Kayla and Peter (because his car would not start) to get Kayla fitted for ankle braces to help with her standing. She has been putting more weight on her legs when the PT stands her up.
We are hopeful that the school can get all the paper work done and arrange transportation by next week with a target date of Dec. 3rd for Kayla to start school.
