Yesterday there was a meeting of the physical therapists and occupational therapists, the ones who were working with Kayla and the ones from the school getting ready to work with her. Kayla has been doing some weight bearing when transferring from her bed to her wheelchair and from her chair to the couch. I also saw some improvement in her sitting up without support. She is not quite steady yet but getting better.
Now the original prescribed visits of PT and OT and Speech have run out and we are waiting for re-evaluation from medical assistance to be able to continue. The school is getting ready to do their evaluations but will wait until after Kayla's surgery next week. I do not understand the system that allows her to go without therapy for any length of time but so goes the plan.
Kayla will be going to Syracuse tomorrow for pre-admittion testing. It will be a long day for her.
We are very grateful to the men who graded and laid gravel on the driveway today. They are hoping to be able to pave it in a week or so depending on scheduling and weather. Thank you Mr. Miller
