HOME!!
When Peter, Bob, Kim and Robin arrived at the Rehab facility and Kayla saw them she smiled for about 15 minutes. We had to wait while Peter reviewed the discharge plan with staff. Kayla did not continue to smile. I think she was beginning to wonder if she was ever leaving.
Once the details were taken care of, we had a little party with staff. They gave us cupcakes and gave Kayla a card and lots of hugs. We are very grateful for all the care they gave Kayla during her stay.
Kim and Robin tell me that Kayla smiled all the way home. Once home Kayla was settled in bed and the nursing agency rep did all the intake paper work with Peter.
I stopped in this evening and Kayla was having her bath and seems content. She is supposed to have physical therapy and occupational therapy starting tomorrow. They are still working on getting a speech therapist and the school district has to do their evaluation. Everything is falling into place.
Welcome Home Kayla!
I'm so glad to hear she is home. Perhaps it will help with her recovery. She may feel motivated to walk and talk when she is in a familiar environment.
