When I spoke to my mom this afternoon -
Kayla was holding her own.
Her heart rate has increased from being very low.
They currently have her heavily sedated.
They are monitoring her brain activity with an EEG. They are trying to keep her brain activity at 10% of a normal person. Basically her brain is only breathing and circulating blood for her. They have a no noise in the room, they are really trying to have no outside stimulation. Just giving her brain time to heal.
Sending you all prayers.
ReplyDeleteIt must be so hard for Peter, April and your mom to not be able to talk to her. Where are they staying? what do they need, besides prayer?
ReplyDeleteMom is staying at a boarding house connected to the hospital. Peter and April have access to a Ronald McDonald house, but so far have just been staying at the hospital. Really right now prayers is all we can do for them. I think once we know more about how long her hospital stay will be and what comes after that, we will have a better idea of what help is needed.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking time to post this and keeping us updated on her status. We continue to keep all of you in our prayers!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are all praying for you guys.
ReplyDeleteLots of prayers for healing.

Please let the family know how devastated I was to hear of Kayla's accident. My prayers are going out to you all. I will be mailing a package of some of Kayla's writing I came across when packing up the classroom yesterday. What a beatiful spirit she has; no doubt she will be doing her best to get well as quickly as possible.
